Online Q&A with “This is Us” Ron Cephas Jones w/ Ubuntu Theater

On Thursday April 30th, join us at 5:30pm PST for a conversation between Ron Cephas Jones, award-winning actor and beloved star of NBC’s hit show This Is Us, and Artistic Director Michael Moran. This conversation is part of an ongoing weekly chat with prominent guests about the state of the arts, the future of Oakland, and how the spirit of Ubuntu is valuable in our world.

Ron Cephas Jones has had a prominent career Off-Broadway and around the U.S., having performed at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre, Boston’s American Repertory Theatre, New York’s Second Stage Theatre, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Public Theater (playing the title character in Richard III).

He made his Broadway debut in 2004 in August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean. Other favorites include performing in The Motherf***ker With the Hat starring Chris Rock and a touching performance as farmhand Crooks in the revival of Of Mice and Men.

In film and television, Ron Cephas Jones is best known for his role in the drama series This Is Us, which earned him three consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning one for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2018. Jones has also appeared in a number of films and television series including Half Nelson, Glass Chin, Mr. Robot, and Luke Cage.
