SF’s Skateboarder Annual “Hill Bomb” at Dolores Park

Skateboarders speed down Dolores hill in San Francisco for the annual “hill bomb”

Typically on a random early evening in early July, skateboarders take to the Dolores hill next to Dolores Park and fly down at breakneck speed (almost literally).

When is the 2023 Dolores Park Hillbomb?

We don’t know yet! But often it’s around the second Saturday in July (possibly the afternoon of July 8, 2023 around 6pm or 7pm), but it could be any date, and it may not happen at all. It’s all very hush hush since it’s kind of illegal (and really f*cking dangerous). Check reddit, check tiktok. Check @baysick.com – We’ll keep you posted if we hear;

If you go this year, just know that people are crazy and spectators can get run over by bikes (and by cars) and if you decide to bomb the hill, wear a goddamn helmet, but even that may not help save you (yes, people have died bombing the hill).

The 2022 “Hill Bomb” took place Saturday, July 9, 2022 despite the “Botts dots” speed bumps that were installed in 2020 on Dolores specifically to deter hillbombing after one of the cyclists that year died of a brain aneurysm. Go figure.

San Francisco photographer Dre Anderson (@drephotography11 / website) captured some of the most epic photos and drone shots. Including one video where a guy is bombing down Dolores and another guy runs up and clotheslines him in the middle of his run. Insane.
