New Professional NBA Team Coming to Walnut Creek
Walnut Creek, California is trending on Twitter today. News broke this morning that a new professional basketball team is coming to the Bay Area.
The brand new NBA G League team‘s home is expected to be at the Ultimate Fieldhouse sports complex in Walnut Creek, which is where Warriors allstar Steph Curry hosts his Under Armour Select Camp.
The new team is part of the professional pathway program which focuses on developing young talent and provides a professional path to the NBA, with players salaries of up to $500,000, as an alternative to playing college basketball. The team will include older players in addition to half dozen elite prospects right out of high school.
Top NBA prospects that have signed on for the G League Select Team include Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, Princepal Singh, Kai Sotto, Jonathan Kuminga, and Jalen Green, who was the first to announce he was signing with the professional pathway program. Green is the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Oakland native and former Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw will serve as Head Coach.
