SF Gate hunts down the cause of Wednesday’s sulfur-like smell along the waterfront

Thanks to SF Gate for shedding some light on the rather unusual stinky situation where many people living close to the waterfront noticed an usual sulfur-like smell on Wednesday – that some people also described as smelling like cut fresh-cut grass or dirty socks.
The order was entirely different from the smoke that has choked much of the Bay Area due to the fires.
Bay Area Air Quality Management District told SF Gate that they verified the smell of “sulfur/cut grass” and said that the smell was due to rotting vegetation and organisms due to the estuaries drying out this time of year.
