Big Rockslide Closed Hwy 50 Near Lake Tahoe This Weekend
Thanks to SF Gate and KRCA for letting us know that a rockslide Friday morning completely closed down Highway 50 at Echo Summit just outside of South Lake Tahoe for a few hours.
The rock slide forces drivers to instead circle around to Highway 80 through Truckee or Highway 88.
After blasting large boulders, both lanes was cleared by Friday evening, but Caltrans says to expect alternating one-way traffic control through the weekend as crews need space on the road continue to scale the mountain side.
