SF High Schools Try to “Reopen” for Just 1 Day to Get $12 Million
Thanks to SF Chronicle and Fox News for sharing that San Francisco Unified School District is being criticized for their plan to open schools for just one day in order to qualify for $12 million in state reopening funds.
Just two of the city’s 15 high schools will reopen for “in person supervision,” just one day before the state’s deadline of May 15 in order to qualify for part of the $2 billion in state opening funds that was approved to encourage the schools districts to reopen for in-person education.
The plan may fall flat though since it’s not known if district’s plan will qualify since California’s funding stipulation requires the public school districts to reopen for in person instruction, not supervision. The district plans for only seniors to return to just two sites, not even necessarily their own school, to have conversations about college or career options.

We must let the distance learning waiver expire 6/30 because districts continue to act irresponsibly with the flexibility given by the state. https://t.co/Mi43Msn4Kb
