Bistro at the Casa
The San Leandro Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the Bistro at the Casa for The Gathering event and will provide food trucks and beverages.
The San Leandro History Museum will host crafts and activities for all ages in front of the Casa Peralta during The Gathering event. Activities will include roping a cow, washing clothes by hand, and creating your 150th art memorabilia. Inside the Museum will be a new exhibit that examines two specific aspects of housing discrimination throughout the nation and in San Leandro: Redlining and the development of all-white suburban neighborhoods. This exhibit aims to help the community better understand the housing discrimination and systemic racism that kept San Leandro a primarily white community well into the 1990s. Also at the History Museum will be the BLM Murals on display. At the peak of the Black Lives Matter movement, Art for Change in San Leandro brought artists together to create a series of murals on boarded-up storefronts in town. The San Leandro History Museum will have printed reproductions of the plywood murals on display for the Sesquicentennial June 4th celebration.
