Please join Friends of the Urban Forest this Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 1 pm as they map the trees of Washington Square Park onto the Urban Forest Map.
They’ll kick-off the Great Tree Count by inventorying one of the city’s beloved public spaces. It’s a great place to start because it’s full of trees, but funding difficulties mean that the trees haven’t been properly inventoried. That’s where the Great Tree Count comes in – by mapping the trees in our cities, we’re helping urban forest managers and city planners know what’s out there so they can make better plans for the future.
