Gun Buy-Back
Mayor Breed to City and State Officials, SFPD Command Staff and United Playaz Leaders to announce this year’s Gun Buy Back Event to be held on Saturday, December 9, between 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM at United Playaz at 1038 Howard Street, providing a place for people to turn in their weapons, no questions asked, and get guns off the streets and out of communities.
The Gun Buy-Back program has operated since 2014 and has collected more than 2,500 guns. People can turn in their guns in exchange for $100 for a handgun and $200 for assault weapons. Funding for the gun buy-back was provided by philanthropic donations and a grant from the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development.

If you have a gun in your home, you have two options toward community safety: 1) Turn your firearm in on Dec 9 for cash OR 2) go to any SFPD station for a free gun lock.
