About D.O.A. (1950)
D.O.A. tells a gripping tale that follows Frank Bigelow, a man who discovers he’s been poisoned and has only a few days to live. Desperate to find out who has murdered him and why, Bigelow embarks on a frantic quest to unravel the mystery. Even after over 70 years, this film’s tense and thrilling exploration of fate and mortality continues to captivate audiences.
Edmond O’Brien, the lead actor in D.O.A., was a versatile performer known for his roles in noir classics like The Killers and White Heat. Pamela Britton, who plays the devoted Paula Gibson, was a talented actress whose career spanned film, television, and theater.
A Salon web review (2000) of a DVD release of the film, characterized it as a “high-concept movie before its time.”
