Storytelling for Courage, Belonging & Movement Building — A Live Podcast Conversation with May Boeve

How do we find courage, community, and direction in a time of rising division and shrinking rights? How do movements grow — and what role does your personal story play in creating change?

KALW invites you to an inspiring live recording of How We Build This, the podcast hosted by renowned movement leader May Boeve. Together, we’ll explore how storytelling can spark collective courage, deepen belonging, and help us build powerful movements rooted in care, justice, and imagination.

This uplifting, community-centered event will feature a rich conversation between May and fellow Bay Area strategists and organizers Heather Box and Julian Mocine-McQueen, longtime movement builders and storytelling facilitators. Together they will discuss:

How social movements take shape — and why they matter now

Practical ways people are finding purpose and agency in uncertain times

The power of personal narrative as a tool for healing, organizing, and transformation

Why your story is part of the solution

Come gather with others who care about the world, leave inspired, and walk away with meaningful insights and tools you can bring back to your community, your work, and your own life.

This event is free and open to the public — everyone is welcome.
