San Francisco’s Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival has announced its 2026 Grand Marshal, and it’s a familiar face if you’ve spent any time on comedy TikTok or Netflix lately.

Comedian Atsuko Okatsuka will lead this year’s Grand Parade, the festival’s biggest annual event through the heart of the city.

The parade takes place Sunday, April 19 from 1 pm to 3 pm and typically draws large crowds for its mix of taiko drummers, traditional dancers, community groups, and colorful floats. While the 2026 route hasn’t been confirmed yet, it typically starts at Civic Center Plaza and ends in Japantown.

Now in its 58th year, the Cherry Blossom Festival is one of the largest celebrations of Japanese and Japanese American culture in the country, bringing more than 200,000 people to Japantown each spring.

The 2026 festival runs over two weekends, April 11-12 and April 18-19, from 11 am to 5 pm along Post Street between Laguna and Fillmore. Admission is free.

If you’re planning to catch the parade, expect crowds along the route and in Japantown, especially on the final Sunday when the festival wraps up.
