Getting to places like Baker Beach, the California Coastal Trail, or Presidio Tunnel Tops without a car can be a hassle. But a lot of people still don’t realize San Francisco already has a totally free shuttle that goes straight there.

The Presidio GO Shuttle connects downtown SF to the Presidio, then loops through some of the park’s most popular beaches, trails, picnic spots, and scenic overlooks with no parking hunt required.

Ride From Downtown to the Presidio in About 25 Minutes

The Downtown Route runs between the Presidio and downtown San Francisco, with stops near Embarcadero BART, the Salesforce Transit Center, and Van Ness.

Once you arrive at the Presidio Transit Center, you’re just a short walk from Tunnel Tops, food trucks, lawn hangouts, and trail connections.

The ride takes less than 30 minutes from downtown.

A Free Loop to Beaches, Trails & Golden Gate Views

Already inside the park? The South Hills Route loops through major Presidio destinations, making it easy to bounce between beaches, overlooks, and trailheads without moving your car.

Stops and connections include:

  • Baker Beach
  • Coastal trail access
  • Golden Gate viewpoints
  • Picnic areas and scenic overlooks
  • Connections toward the Golden Gate Bridge

Basically, it’s one of the easiest ways to spend a full Presidio day without dealing with parking.

New Electric Buses Just Hit the Streets

The Presidio Trust recently started rolling out new battery-electric buses to replace older vehicles in the fleet.

The new buses are quieter, smoother, and easier to board, especially for riders with strollers, bikes, or mobility needs. By the end of May 2026, more than half the shuttle fleet will be electric.
