Banned Books Week 2014

Banned Books Week is the national book community’s annual celebration of the freedom to read and takes place from September 21-27, 2014.

Hundreds of libraries and bookstores around the country draw attention to the problem of censorship by mounting displays of challenged books and hosting a variety of events.

Bilingual Read-Aloud | Banned Books Week 2014

Join the César E. Chávez Branch of the Oakland Public Library for a read aloud from books that have been banned around the country.
They will be reading both storybooks and excerpts from novels for all ages in both English and Spanish.
