The Stern Grove Festival returns for its 88th season having presented free concerts in the park every summer since 1938.

FREEStern Grove Festival’s 88th season of admission-free concerts kicks off on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Concerts take place every Sunday at 2 pm from June 15 to August 17.
And back for this year, Stern Grove Festival hosts a two-day farewell fundraiser “The Big Picnic” on Saturday and Sunday, August 16-17, 2025 to close out the season.
Typically, the Stern Grove Festival announces the full lineup in late April / early May. This year, they’ve In a rare occurrence, Stern Grove has announced its first big headliner for the 88th season way ahead of its typical festival announcement timeline.
The Festival just announced that Oakland legends, The Pointer Sisters, will be headlining Stern Grove Festival on August 10, 2025.
We’ll keep an eye out for the full 2025 lineup when it drops and the RSVP ticket dates link.

Typically, free RSVPs open for the first concert one month before the season opener, so most likely, you can RSVP on May 15, 2025 at 2pm. Usually, you can reserve up to 4 spots. RSVPs open up one month in advance of each concert. Check Eventbrite to see when they start posting RSVP links. And we recommend acting quickly. RSVPs tend to go quickly (or if you’re a baller and you have $2,000 or more to donate, you can reserve a table for up to 10 people)

The strong voice behind tUnE-yArDs comes from New England native-turned-Oakland resident, Merril Garbus. Backed by looped sounds and a varied number of instruments (bass, percussion, a plethora of saxes, and more), tUnE-yArDs crafts intricate, compelling and singular musical explorations.
Another artist from Kyiv, Ukraine, DakhaBrakha is a self-described “ethnic chaos” band, creating a world of unexpected new music. Accompanied by Indian, Arabic, African, Russian, and Australian instrumentation, the quartet’s astounding vocal range has garnered praise around the world.
