Mike Jutan, Research and Development Engineer for Animation and Creatures with Industrial Light and Magic, explores the history of ILM in the Bay Area– from its beginnings in San Rafael to its home within the Letterman Digital Arts Center in the Presidio. Learn about the difference between animation and visual effects as Mike shares unique stories and clips from his work at ILM/Lucasfilm, including cutting edge computer graphics software technology for the films The Avengers, Jurassic World, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rango, Iron Man, Star Trek, Noah, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Jutan has spoken at TEDx, San Diego Comic-Con, and the San Francisco Film Society. He is involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he played “The Penguin” in the San Francisco Batkid wish on November 15, 2013. He is featured in the documentary film “Batkid Begins,” chronicling the events leading up to the Batkid wish.
