Event Details

Autumn Gem is a documentary by Santa Clara-based filmmakers Rae Chang and Adam Tow about the “Chinese Joan of Arc,” Qiu Jin (1875-1907), a radical women’s rights activist who led an armed uprising against the corrupt Qing Dynasty. She became the first female martyr for China’s 1911 Revolution.

The film showing, part of the Library’s Celebration of the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage in California, will be followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers. To reserve a space at this free film program, call Reference at (408) 615-2900.
