Consider manzanitas as the center of animal and fungal diversity.  This introduction shares not only the evolution of manzanitas, but also how they evolved with animals. The focus pollinators, consumers, fruit dispersers depend on manzanitas as the center of animal and fungal diversity.  Learn about the evolution of manzanitas, and how they evolved with animals.

Tom Parker is Professor of Biology Emeritus at San Francisco State University, currently the Editor-in-Chief of Madroño, the Western America Journal of Botany, a publication of the California Botanical Society. Tom is an evolutionary ecologist focused on the role of plants in ecological communities. He specializes in the dynamics of plant communities and has conducted research principally on tidal wetlands and chaparral.
