Castro’s Cafe Flore is finally back after a long 4-year closure. The brand new Fisch & Flore soft opened on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the former Cafe Flore space at Noe and Market. See a video the updated restaurant on Instagram at @fischandflore

Thanks to SFist for sharing the details. After 47 years, Cafe Flore, the charming cafe, located at 2298 Market St., quietly closed for regular service during the winter holidays in late 2019, according to Hoodline. At the time, it announced it had switched to an events-only concept, but then the pandemic hit. The restaurant sat vacant for 4 years, but now a new sustainable seafood restaurant has opened.

The new owner Serhat Zorlu has refreshed the gorgeous exterior which now has two new firepits and a modern glass wrap-around perimeter fence that serves as a windbreak for more comfortable outdoor seating. Plus the building has undergone some modernization such as an ADA-compliant bathroom, kitchen, and seating to make the space more accessible while keeping all the charm.

For the first month, the restaurant will be open for dinner only, Wednesday through Sunday, before shifting to lunch and dinner service.

But it hasn’t been exactly four years. About a year ago (March 4, 2023) Fisch & Flore had a one-day only sneak preview night. So let’s hope this new reopening lasts a lot longer!
