Free Hot Dog Day | Inner Richmond
Sadly, the Frankenart Mart closed in February 2016 after 10 fun years.
The Frankenart Mart is a quirky “only in San Francisco” type of art gallery in the Inner Richmond. Not only do they have curious one-of-a-kind participatory art projects, but once a month there’s free hot dogs. Cat hair toppings are available.
Keep in mind, this is a teeny tiny (250 sq. feet) art gallery. So if you’re interested in strange and wonderful little art projects, this is a fun place to spend part of your Sunday and munch on a free dog.
For their seventh Anniversary Hot Dog Day (holy crap…), they will continue making replicas and representations of products regularly imported to the US from around the world. These replicas will be sent “back” to their countries of origin at the end of this theme, hopefully via container ship from the Port of Oakland.
The 2013 Frankenart Free Trade Zone Agreement (signed by our uberpro-business mayor) allows us to use visitors as cheap labor to fashion our exports. This Hot Dog Day, visitor/ laborers will be put to work manufacturing cheap, crappy toys and will be paid in hot dogs.
