“I am a snail, I am from Eastern Europe, and this is my song…,” proclaims Snail at the opening of a bold new alt-comedy fever dream by Washington D.C.-based clown, NoraDell. Officially a heartwarming coming-of-age tale; unofficially, this show takes the question “would you still love me if I were a snail” to its furthest illogical extreme.
Theater-goers find themselves in for a treat: a snail from Eastern Europe, a powerful song-and-dance, a hostage negotiation, and…puppets (just kidding, unless…). “I set out to create a serious exploration of the ways we lose and find ourselves throughout our lives,” said Dell, “but unfortunately, I am a snail”.
Despite a complete lack of everything a proper work of theater should have, audiences are transfixed by Dell’s mesmerizing performance, saying, “I had no idea what was going on, but I loved it”, and “are you a trained actor?”
About the Artist:
Nora Dell is a Gaulier-trained clown and failed student of Realism for Actors. Her work has been featured all over the world, including New York, Baltimore, Bombay Beach (2026 Grant Winner), Edinburgh, and D.C., where she earned a “Best of D.C. Fringe 2025”. When not traveling, she hosts a monthly cabaret in D.C., which serves as an incubator for the city’s nascent alt-comedy scene. You can find her on instagram @aronlled_comedy or on the streets of L.A. dressed up as a giant Olive.
