September 15 is a big day at the California Academy of Sciences. It’s the day our favorite albino American alligator hatched from his egg! Claude, the startlingly white Alligator mississippiensis has become one of the Academy’s most famous residents.

Let’s all wish Claude a Happy Hatchday! Join his virtual celebration, featuring a special treat for the birthday reptile, a reading of Claude: The True Story of a White Alligator from award-winning author Emma Smith, and a “How-to-Draw-a-Claude” lesson from illustrator Jennifer Potter.
Get to know more about Claude.
Wow- A True story not very well known, but should be. @LBFbooks @EmmaBlandSmith @jennifermpotter come together to share the story of Claude The White Alligator in a touching way, making me (and hopefully young readers) want to know and explore more… Bravo. pic.twitter.com/EjVC3SLaLk
