Big Sur’s Highway 1 Reopens April 30

Thanks to SFGate and Fox News for sharing the news that California Highway 1 along Big Sur will reopen soon.

The beautiful scenic highway along Big Sur washed away in January, due to a landslide near Rat Creek, by Mile Marker 30.

150 feet of the iconic road that fell into the ocean was expected to be repaired by the summer, but the project is moving along more quickly than expected due to favorable weather and soil conditions. The highway is expected to reopen April 30, two months ahead of schedule.
