BART Stations Now Host New Free Outdoor Concert Festival
The sounds of Reggae, Jazz, and Folk music will bring joy to BART riders in the month of October as the latest “welcome back” gesture by the agency to encourage the return to transit and reinforce the role public transit plays in fueling the Bay Area’s economy and culture.
BART and Taylor Street Production are launching the “Sound Tracks” Music Program featuring a diverse lineup of local musicians on Thursdays in October from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at four stations next month:
- October 7 at Downtown Berkeley – Sass N Harmony (folk trio)
- October 14 at Concord – Os Cocos (reggae, samba, and soul band)
- October 21 at Fruitvale – Danilo Y Grupo Universal (Latin jazz)
- October 28 at Glen Park – 510JAZZ (contemporary jazz, bossa nova, hip-hop and R&B)
The bands will play acoustic sets in outdoor free plaza areas near or on BART property. All are invited to attend, and attendees may bring chairs to enjoy the show.
October’s free music performance series, which is a first of its kind for BART, follows BART’s 50% discount in September and is the latest offering to thank riders for using transit. The outdoor series will help riders and neighbors make the most of the October weather while supporting local artists during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The free music series is a collaboration between BART’s Office of External Affairs, BART’s Art Program, and Taylor Street Production to bring live performances to BART stations and to celebrate culture and the communities we serve.
