Event Details

Let Them Eat Fake is an interdisciplinary group exhibition produced and curated by Grocery Collective in collaboration with Liminal Space. Let Them Eat Fake concretizes the social and economic parallels between the billionaire class and colonist monarchy via satire, subversion, and the queering of royalty. Let Them Eat Cake follows in the tradition of the jester, speaking truth to power through comedy and play and celebrates the queer history of simultaneously reproducing and blaspheming monarchy and monarchs.

These selected works speak truths about who is ruling our world today and read them to filth. Place those who are systemically barred from monarchy in the trappings of royalty. The Emperor with no clothes is humiliated, we parade through the streets, naked except for our crowns and we are proud.

Let Them Eat Fake centers the work of Trans and Gender Non-conforming artists and features work by

Baylee Van
Chihiro Suzuki Hashimoto
Jasmine Anais
Lex Grey
Rio Schloesser
Siobhan Aluvalot
Sugar Kayne
Xara Thrusta
