Found Poets is a seasonal showcase of poets from the Bay Area and beyond. We are building a home for performers of spoken word, searching out new writers and bringing poets of note in from outside of our community.
This edition of Found Poets features…
Jamie DeWolf
Jamie DeWolf is a performer, filmmaker, writer, live event producer, arts educator and circus ringmaster from Oakland. DeWolf started his performance career as an Oakland Grand Slam champion and quickly evolved his “raw and raucous” lyricism into a fast paced fusion of ferocious hip hop, fearless comedy, and hard hitting theatrical story-telling.
He’s written and performed with inmates at San Quentin Penitentiary, won “Performance of the Year” by NPR’s Snap Judgment, and was voted “Best Poet” and “Best Filmmaker” by the East Bay Express.
He lives with his partner, the underwater performer and filmmaker, Iara Mandyn in Oakland, CA.
lorriechange
lorriechange is a truth seeker/ speller, daughter of The City, urban planner, second-generation Chinese American, dancer under the open sky, and spiritual wanderer. Her North Star is to revive flow between humanity’s heart and mind.
Rhea Joseph
Rhea Joseph is an energetic poet and event producer who comes from a family of artists and creatives. Rhea finds power in community and can be found exploring the boundaries of art with experimental performances and unique collaborations.
Xxhe
Xxhe is an ice composer, music producer, performance artist, novelist, and event organizer. Sampling sounds of ice and wind, Xxhe creates hyper immersive sonic soundscapes which take you to a frozen alien planet called nenom where Xxhe’s stories are set.
Original Giotis
Giotis writes poetry, fiction, and theory informed by place and voice. His most recent collection Daybreak is available at your favorite bookstore; new collection in the works.
Jackie Ramos
Jacqueline Scott Ramos (aka 2BFREE) is a poet, movement worker, educator, and public health scientist committed to nurturing sacred spaces for youth and to rise, heal, and thrive in their agency.
Maxine Flasher-Düzgüneş
Maxine Flasher-Düzgüneş is a dancer, filmmaker, and poet, and coordinator of Marin County’s first Youth Poet Laureate Program. She is the author of heart-shaped box, a poetry chapbook from Ghost City Press (2022), and through Eileeen, a young-adult novella from VerbalEyze Press (2020).
