Second Sundays for Families is a program at SFMOMA featuring art making and storytelling around a different theme each month. Enter the Koret Education Center on Floor 2 to explore new artists, ideas, and art materials in an open-ended, drop-in environment. The entire museum is your inspiration! We believe in the joy of making, so come ready to relax, experiment, and enjoy yourself.
Second Sunday in May happens to fall on Mother’s Day! Come celebrate moms of all kinds with us with a card-making art project inspired by artworks from around the museum.
Our book-pairing this month is Smoothed Over with Feeling: Poems for New Parents by Vanessa Hope Schneider & Carissa Potter Carlson. It’s a collection of poems and drawings that celebrate the strength, complex emotions, and ongoing creativity of new parents. Join us for a special reading by the author at 1 p.m. in the Koret Education Center Multipurpose Room!
The event in the Koret Center is free, but to access the museum’s galleries beyond the Koret Education Center, a ticket is needed: free for 18 and under, $30 for Adults / $25 for Seniors (65 and older)
