Event Details

Honor the past. Represent the present. Shape the future.

Step into a rare and powerful exchange between generations. Hosted by Zaccho Dance Theatre, Youth Speaks, and the African American Arts and Culture Complex,The Art of Rhyme is a unique workshop where the Bay Area’s rising MCs come face-to-face with the pioneers of Hip Hop. This is more than a cypher—it’s a space to share your verses, sharpen your skills, and dive deep into the roots, evolution, and soul of Hip Hop culture.

Whether you’re a seasoned lyricist or just finding your voice, this engagement invites you to connect with the architects of Hip Hop—those who helped shape the movement from the ground up. Get live feedback on your rhymes, engage in real talk about the craft, and explore how the essence of Hip Hop continues to evolve while staying true to its origins.

What You’ll Experience:

  • A space to perform and share your original rhymes with a live DJ
  • Direct feedback and insight from Hip Hop pioneers Grandmaster Caz and MC SHA-ROCK
  • A space to freestyle in a cypher with legends
  • Conversations on Hip Hop’s roots, its cultural significance, and its future

This event is brought to you by Zaccho Dance Theatre, Youth Speaks and the African American Arts and Culture Complex.
