“Blue Bottle” to Close Huge Oakland Spot After 11 Years

Blue Bottle Coffee is shutting down one of its biggest Bay Area cafés. The spacious shop inside Oakland’s historic W.C. Morse building at 4270 Broadway will serve its last latte on Friday, September 26, 2025, after 11 years in business.

Blue Bottle first opened in the landmark building in 2014, making it one of the company’s largest Bay Area cafés at the time. The century-old space once even featured an espresso repair station behind a clear partition, giving customers a peek behind the scenes. Three years later, Blue Bottle’s growth attracted Nestlé, which bought a controlling stake in the Oakland-founded company for a reported $500 million.

The W.C. Morse location will close later this month, but Blue Bottle isn’t disappearing from Oakland. You can still find cafés nearby and across the Bay Area:
