Event Details

Join Interrobang Book Club for a Summer Shakespeare Read-Aloud!

At this special one-time event, we will gather for a potluck picnic and read Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream out loud together. You don’t have to read the play in advance or be a Shakespeare scholar! This is a perfect event if you’ve been curious about Shakespeare or our book club, but can’t find the time to read the book before the meeting.

How It Works

Everyone brings a copy of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a picnic potluck dish to share. At the beginning of each scene, we will ask for volunteers to read each character that appears in that scene. You might end up reading Puck in one scene, Lysander in another, and Bottom in a third. We’ll take a break in the middle for intermission.

How to Find Us

Look for the bookish people with the big rainbow umbrella. We’ll also be carrying copies of the play!

What to Bring

  • A copy of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (we highly recommend the Sparknotes No Fear edition, which includes a side-by-side original text and modern English translation). We will have a few copies available to borrow if you can’t find or afford a copy on your own.
  • A picnic-friendly potluck dish to share. Please label your dish so people with allergies and food restrictions can taste accordingly. We’ll provide plates, napkins, utensils, and a case of bottled water.
  • A picnic blanket or camp chair.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and/or a sun-umbrella

Dues Announcement

Starting in January 2026, we will start collecting dues at each meeting to cover costs such as Meetup/Bookclubs.com fees and paying for special meeting locations. Donations can be made with cash (preferred) or through a Ko-Fi link. Suggested donation is $2 per person per meeting but never required. We happily accept more $ in dues in order to cover costs for those who cannot contribute. Our goal is to keep the club accessible to all.

Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
