A Celebration of Culture & Community

In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, this gathering will bring together community members, families, and friends for a vibrant cultural experience featuring a traditional food spread with flavors of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, traditional performances, and meaningful connections. A photo booth will also be available on the day for you to capture your memories!

Batik Painting with IRidescent Batik Studio

PRESENTED BY IRIDESCENT BATIK STUDIO

Enjoy a live batik painting demonstration led by textile designer and batik artist Voonbin Leow. She’ll showcase traditional batik techniques — including hand-written and hand-drawn batik (batik tulis dan lukis) and the batik stamping (batik cap) method.

Then, join the community batik painting session — play with colors, add your own touch, and help complete our very own “Bersama in the Bay” batik artwork.

Interactive Angklung Experience

PRESENTED BY INDONESIA LIGHTHOUSE

Join Indonesia Lighthouse for a hands-on angklung session where you can learn to play the angklung, a UNESCO-recognized Indonesian bamboo instrument, together with family, friends, and the wider community.

Led by Indonesia Lighthouse’s experienced angklung team, this session invites us to experience how music, teamwork, and community come together through this beloved Indonesian tradition.

Kampong in a Basket

PRESENTED BY KAMPONG COLLECTIVE

Kampong Collective will conduct a lively segment that brings nostalgic Southeast Asian games and objects like chapteh, five stones, and tiffin carriers to life through short, heartfelt stories about childhood, food, and community. You’ll hear relatable memories and even be invited to share your own.

Attendees will be invited to play classic games in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. It’s a warm, interactive experience that captures the spirit of togetherness across Malaysian, Indonesian, and Singaporean cultures.

A “Surprise” Traditional Showcase

Come dressed in your traditional attire that reflects your heritage—and be part of a special “surprise” showcase. Celebrate and shine in your heritage, and capture the moment at our Baba Nyonya–inspired photo booth. Dressing up isn’t required, but it adds an extra layer of joy and connection to the night.

Tari Serampang Dua Belas

PRESENTED BY ROSIE KASIM

Tari Serampang Dua Belas is a traditional dance from the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It illustrates the journey of two people from their very first meeting all the way to marriage, carrying special messages about finding a life partner in keeping with the moral and cultural values of the Malay tradition.

The dance is famous for its twelve expressive movements that narrate the stages of a young couple’s romance — from the excitement of a first meeting, through the trials of loyalty and commitment, to the final union symbolized by the tying of a handkerchief. It is a graceful celebration of love, perseverance, and timeless cultural values.

A Taste of the Archipelago

Start your journey with crowd-favorite appetizers!

Savor our signature chicken curry puffs (vegetarian option available), paired with crispy keropok (garlic crackers) served alongside a variety of flavorful mamam sambal assortments.

Indulge in a delightful selection of traditional kueh, including kuih angku, kuih lapis, and kuih kosui—perfect bites to begin the celebration.

Every guest will have the same set meal, included in the ticket price.
