Colbert’s Final Night: Shantyoke Celebration (Oakland)

Ahoy, shantyoke fans! Next Thursday at Sláinte Pub, we’ve got a double celebration: Captain Jim turns a spry 79, and it’s Stephen Colbert’s final night on air.

We’re gathering the crew to film one more big, boisterous farewell sea shanty in Colbert’s honor — because the man has done more to keep sea shanties alive in pop culture than just about anyone on television.

We already released the full version over at Shipwrecked Shanty YouTube, with clips floating around TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook… but honestly, the real magic happens when the whole pub joins in. (@Shipwreckshanty on all the things!)

So come sing loud, sing proud, and help us send Stephen off properly. Maybe someday, while sipping a margarita somewhere in the Caribbean, he’ll stumble across a room full of Oakland shanty pirates singing him into the sunset.
