Join the free opening day festivities for de Young’s newest exhibition, “Girl with a Pearl Earring: Dutch Paintings from the Mauritshuis” and “Rembrandt’s Century” on January 26, 2013.
Public programs are free and open to the public.
The entertainment lectures and music are completely free (they take place in the public areas of the de Young – but please note that the museum galleries and exhibits are not free and require regular admission.

- Noon–3 pm: Possibly Portraits? Doing and Viewing Art for Children & Families
Is Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring a portrait or tronie? Come learn what tronie means and explore characters of the Dutch Golden Age. Build your own work of art through drawing, collage, and embellishing with trims, lace, and jewels.- 3–5 pm: Live classical music performed by Revolution Quartet featuring L.L. Aspect (Slump Co./Jazz Mafia)
