America’s Cup: Louis Vuitton Cup & Summer of Racing | July 4 – August 30
The Louis Vuitton Cup, the America’s Cup Challenger Series, is used as the selection series to determine who will race the Defender in the America’s Cup Finals. This is a round-robin racing series throughout July and August.
Where to Watch
The America’s Cup Park is located on Pier 27/29 and the America’s Cup Village at Marina Green.Standing room is free from the shoreline, but tickets are required for bleacher seating. Screens will be located in both venues.
At the America’s Cup Park on Pier 27/29 you can also enjoy a free ride in the Flying on Water 4D AC72 simulator, learn about the science of sailing, meet athletes, relax in bean bags and listen to DJs in the Puma Yard, and play in the Kids’ Zone.
You can also view the races for free in person anywhere else along the Marina, Crissy Field, or from Angel Island.

Race Update: Team Luna Rossa has issued a press release saying it’s protesting proposed rule changes and boycotting the first day of racing on July 7. The America’s Cup says that the “race” will still go on with just Team New Zealand on the course – starting at 12;15pm and will have to finish the course to receive the first point in the challenge series.

Scheduled for July 4 – September 1, 2013, the Louis Vuitton Cup will see challengers from around the globe battle each other in a knockout series for the opportunity to compete for the America’s Cup.
2013 marks the 30th anniversary of the first Louis Vuitton Cup, which took place in Newport, Rhode Island in 1983. The Louis Vuitton Cup serves dual purposes; first, to determine who will advance to the America’s Cup Finals, but also to prepare the Challenger to race on level terms with the defender.
