Greenpeace “Rainbow Warrior” Ship | Pier 15
Come aboard Greenpeace’s iconic sailing ship, the Rainbow Warrior, docked at San Francisco’s Pier 15 for a week of tours and events from November 8-17, 2013.
During its stay the ship will host a number events including a free indie concert, free weekend tours of the 190ft eco-ship, and a ‘floating art gallery’ day.
This beautiful 190ft vessel is the newest generation of Greenpeace’s historic fleet and includes some of the most environmentally-friendly sailing technology available.
Greenpeace’s ships have a long history of making headlines, from the bombing of the original Rainbow Warrior in 1985, to last month’s seizure of the Arctic Sunrise in Russia.
“Rainbow Warriors: The Art of Resistance” is a one day floating art exhibit on board Greenpeace’s Rainbow Warrior ship, featuring work by critically acclaimed and up-and-coming artist activists from noon to 5:30 pm on Monday, November 11, 2013.
Work from over 70 artists will be on display alongside live silk screening and graffiti, tackling key issues from social justice to climate change. Gathered from across the country, the show is meant to represent a microcosm of the multitude of community struggles taking place simultaneously across the U.S. and the artists who choose to engage with those directly affected on the front lines of injustice.
This art extravaganza will feature the works of premiere political artists of our time, including: Favianna Rodriguez, Melanie Cervantes, Emory Douglas, David Solnit, prisoner Kevin Rashid, Cesar Maxit, Chris Stain, Josh McPhee, Roger Peet, Imin Yeh, RVLTN, QUILL, SWOON, Christopher Ridler, Daniel Rodriguez, Oree Originol, STRIKE, Crystal Clarity, Climbing Poetree, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, Miguel Luciano, Winston Smith, and the Beehive Collective, among many others.
They will also host a special appearance by the Fishy Food Tour which aims to educate the public on the importance of GMO labeling.
