In this intimate celebration and performance, Jazz@YBCA artist-in-residence Myra Melford presents a program that will honor the work they’ve done over the last two years.

Meet the artists, educators, and partners who brought this exciting project to light, and find yourself in the present tense of this rich American art form. Featuring performances by the Oakland Future Trio Youth Ensemble, an improvisation between Melford and YBCA’s Chief of Program and Pedagogy and renowned spoken word poet, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, and more.
They will end with a Jazz@YBCA jam with Marcus Shelby, John Schott, and others. This special jam is open to audience participation. Bring your instruments or your voices and get your chance to perform on the legendary YBCA stage. Light refreshments served.
