Mitch Mayne is an openly gay, active Latter-day Saint. He serves as executive secretary in the Bay Ward in San Francisco and works to reconcile the Mormon and the LGBT communities.
He is presenting his views on women in Mormonism as part of the First United Lutheran Church in San Francisco’s Pluralism, Summer.
At the FULC’s weekly worship in June, July and August, representatives from different faiths will present the truth from their perspectives about gender in their religion. Throughout the summer,
Muslim, Jewish, Shinto, Mormon, Brahma Kumaris and Shinto leaders will answer questions about their religious points of view and how their teachings have been interpreted to adapt to modern society.
