Event Details

The AstroLecture Series is held every third Tuesday of the month and is co-sponsored by the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers in partnership with the Presidio Trust. Each lecture focuses on an astronomy related topic, and shares the latest findings and cutting edge science from noted professional astronomers, scientists, and scholars.

Lynn Cominsky, Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Sonoma State University, reports on the first gravitational wave signals from observations of merging Black Holes as detected by the twin facilities that comprise the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO).

Free but an RSVP is required.
