Thanks to SF Gate for sharing the news that there’s a whale in the San Francisco Bay right now.

Experts at the Marine Mammal Center spotted the first humpback whale of the season in the San Francisco Bay. The 50 foot whale has been seen swimming in the area over the last week, feeding, which is a great sign that the Bay is bountiful for more species.

What’s most unusual is that it’s very early in the season for a whale to be spotted. Marine Mammal Center field researcher Bill Keener noted that the whale was first seen on March 9 and has been spotted every day since. However, usually whale sightings in The Bay don’t occur until late April, so this whale is more than month early.
