LOVE IS A BURNING THING is a portrait of a mother-daughter relationship that examines mental health, class, shame, gender—and spirituality’s role within each. It’s also a raw, often humorous glimpse into the life of a young woman coming of age while, in many ways, parenting her own mother. Perfect for readers of books like Esmé Weijun Wang’s The Collected Schizophrenias and Jaquira Díaz’s Ordinary Girls, LOVE IS A BURNING THING is an unforgettable book, filled with heat from start to finish.
About the Author: Nina St. Pierre is a queer essayist and culture writer whose work has appeared in Elle, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Gossamer, Nylon, Outside, Columbia Journal, Bitch, Catapult, and more. She is a 2023 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Nonfiction Literature, a 2023 Religion and Environment Story Project Fellow, and was a 2022 Literary Journalism Resident at BANFF Centre for the Arts. Nina holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Rutgers-Camden and lives in New York City.
