“Chalk Over Hate” See SF’s Black Lives Matter “Stencil” House
Thanks to ABC7 for letting us know that the couple who called the police after they saw a stenciling “Black Lives Matter” in chalk onto his own property has issued an apology, and now neighbors and allies have added lots of other chalk messages to the retaining wall and sidewalk.
San Francisco resident James Juanillo, who identifies as a person of color, posted a video via Twitter last Friday showing his encounter with the man and woman, identified only as Lisa and Robert. He said that the couple called the police after they saw him stenciling “Black Lives Matter” in chalk onto his own property.
Yesterday, Lisa Alexander and Robert Larkin issued an apology regarding the confrontation caught on camera.
#BlackLivesMatter | Lisa Alexander says she wants to apologize directly to Mr. Juanillo: ⬇️

In her apology, she stated that “The last 48 hours have taught me that my actions were those of someone who is not aware of the damage caused by being ignorant.” Robert said, “It was wrong, and I am profoundly sorry for treating him with disrespect.”
And now, according to video taken by ABC7’s Luz Peña, James Juanillos house has become a canvas for the #BLM messages. Chalk artists and neighbors have come together to “chalk over hate.” She will have updates on ABC7 today (June 15th) at 4pm and 5pm
