Event Details

Helps us commemorate the more than 2,000 San Francisco Bay Area Businesses that have closed permanently since March 17th and advocate for over 3,000 family owned businesses that have been closed for 150 days & counting; all while receiving NO help from our cities or state.

Join the small business community of San Francisco that has been unable to reopen in any meaningful manner since Mayor London Breed enacted the shelter in place order in a peaceful protest at City Hall August 25 at 10 am. Small fitness studios, salons, tattoo studios, massage studios, estheticians, entertainment venues, artists and many more business sectors on the verge of collapse will be represented.
The peaceful protest will include speakers from the community urging the City take steps to provide some kind of relief to these businesses until they can open safely and make meaningful revenue. Swift action is needed immediately to avoid financial ruin.
To avoid negative interpretation of the protest, those who join should focus their message and protest signs on how the City can provide financial relief (ie: Rent Relief, Tax Relief, Help Us Pay Our Employees, On The Verge of Bankruptcy, $50,000 in Debt, etc). Avoid any focus on just reopening, which could be interpreted negatively without a full explanation of how we can do it safely (remember, most people just look at the pictures and don’t read the article).
Strict Covid safety protocols will be followed including masks at all times and no less than six feet social distancing. The protest will include safety monitors to assure compliance.
Please share with friends, family and those who care about San Francisco’s small business community. These businesses are the lifeblood of San Francisco neighborhoods and we cannot let them die.
