AfroComicCon International Film Festival Award Ceremony

AfroComicCon Int. Film Festival is returning in person with an exciting program for this year’s Award Ceremony.

Event time 6 PM- 9 PM
This event is FREE and for all ages. Cosplay is highly encouraged.

Our two-day event is an innovative, exciting, new interactive comic convention that combines, art, tech, workshops, gaming, cosplay, fashion, writing, creativity, FLASH (Fit Like A Super Hero), WebTV, film, VR, and more.

A panel of professionals/filmmakers/actors/movie producers/artists, as well as other game changers, will give insights into their work to inspire the participants, answer questions, and provide tips on how to make it in the industry. Industry professionals and aspiring new artists are an integral part of this event. Participants have the chance to explore the possibilities of entrepreneurial creativity and production.

The reward for attendees comes through experiencing the images and stories featuring characters that they can identify with, as well as seeing professionals already masterful in their fields, who look like them. These experiences can have a positive effect on their success in school and on career paths.

We are excited to have a two-day event this year starting with a FREE YOUTH DAY, Sunday, October 23rd, 2022.

At this year’s Award Ceremony we have MC Eric Newton, Oakland Comedian.

6 PM- Doors open with press line with photos.

6:30 PM – MC Eric Newton will open the event introducing AfroComicCon founders, judges, and filmmakers.

7:15 PM- Pixar Producer Theo Hollingsworth will moderate the panel conversation with Black Pixar Animators.

8:00 PM- Short film presentation.

8:30 PM -Awards ceremony conducted by Film Festival Director.

9 PM – MC closing night and thank everyone for participating.

About the program

Oakland Technology & Education Center is the 501c3 that presents AfroComicCon Film Festival Youth Community Day) which is a fun, educational, and inspiring event, for youth and families. This event’s mission vision is to open doors for youth and particularly people of color.
