With a free brunch included for those who arrive at 11 am, Lake Walking, Revolutionary Talking is an interactive, experimental poetry performance including a live and virtual cast of spoken word artists from Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and the U.S.
Set in Oakland’s Lake Merritt, lost children of the African diaspora wander in an imaginary desert in hopes of discovering untainted water that will cleanse their spirit. This journey through space and time celebrates the power of imagination and connection.
Featuring: Ayodele Nzinga, Karla Brundage, Duana Fullwiley, David Odiase, Sir Black, Rameses Setekh, Kevin Dublin, Wanda Sabir, Gemini, Amos White, Godfrey-Elvis Odianose, Zakiyyah G.E. Capehart, Prince Joey, Ifeanyichukwu Onwughalu.

For nearly a decade, West Oakland to West Africa has hosted poetry exchanges, slams, and anthologies featuring over 100 pan-African poets in Ghana, Kenya, & Nigeria to poets in California and Hawaii in the U.S.
About the San Francisco International Art Festival
The San Francisco International Arts Festival has celebrated the arts by bringing together a global community of artists and audiences since 2002. SFIAF presents the work of innovative artists from the Bay Area and around the world. The theme for the 2024 festival is IN DIASPORA. Lake Walking, Revolutionary Talking responds to the festival with its pan-African, afrofuturistic dialogue towards healing.
