SF’s Yerba Buena Gardens Festival 2026
The 2026 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival hosts a full lineup of free outdoor music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, and children’s programs. The Festival opens on Saturday, May 9, 2026 with Hermán Olivera y Orquesta Taíno to kick off its 26th season. The Festival features over 100 free performances from May to November in Downtown San Francisco.
A Native of Kenya, Sila is known for spearheading a polyrhythmic renaissance and establishing a reputation for dynamic live performances. With lyrics in both English and Swahili, Sila’s sound is a funky fusion of African rhythm, funk, soukous, afrobeat, and reggae, influenced by artists like James Brown, Prince, Otis Redding, and Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.
In 2010, Sila won the coveted NAACP Image award for “Outstanding World Music Album” and the San Francisco Weekly music award for “Best International Act.”
