The Shotgun Wedding Quintet is an illicit blend of hip-hop and jazz that’s rooted in tradition, but is ever looking forward. The multi-instrumentalist band members make use of samplers and looping-techniques to create a wall of sound as they shift from instrument to instrument, building continuous layers of music and rhythm, paying homage to the art of improvisation both lyrically and instrumentally.

SWQ is comprised of founders Dublin (MC), Adam Theis (bass, synth bass, trombone, tuba), and pDubL (drums, sampler), with Tony Peebles (sax, keyboards), Max Miller Loran (trumpet, keyboards), Henry Hung (trumpet, keyboards) and Jon Monahan (guitar, banjo).

For today’s program, featuring new material, the Shotgun Wedding Quintet is joined by strings, additional multi-instrumentalists and horns, and surprise guest performers.
