Cancelled: “Swap-O-Rama-Rama” DIY Workshop & Clothing Swap | Oakland
Please note, Swap-O-Rama-Rama is no longer taking place.
Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a nonprofit community clothing swap with a do-it-yourself workshop in which attendees explore the process of reuse and collective creativity together.
Every third Saturday of the month(except for May when they’re at the Maker Faire), they host a meetup where they encourage beginners to experts alike to come, bring clothes and ideas, and swap it like it’s hot. Share and learn ideas of how to repurpose anything and everything into clothing, home decor, and beyond.
Get together to socialize while you swap clothes and ideas. This month’s DIY project: Matching Necktie T-Shirts for fathers and children. They’re great for covering up t-shirt stains, also, they’ll make bowties too and they’ll have other options so Daddy’s Little Girl can rock this look as well.
Bring:
- Unwanted, clean clothing to swap
- Any extra supplies you’d like for the DIY project: 2 t-shirts that fit dad & kid (also onesies, dresses…), contrasting clothing/fabric to cut out the neckties…or find all this in the swap
- A friend
They’ll be ready with sewing machines, tools and all the notions you need for the DIY project.
Please note, another large event will be setting up in the Poplar Gallery simultaneously. If anyone stops you just say, “I’m here for Swap-O-Rama-Rama.” Follow the tape guide on the floor to the temporary meeting spot this month only.
