See the Aerial Photo of Last Week’s Bay Bridge Vehicle Fire
Last week, a vehicle caught fire on the Bay Bridge, shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, prompting the closure of all westbound lanes just west of Treasure Island.
According to CHP Officer Mark Andrews, the vehicle that caught fire contained five occupants, although none were injured. The closure caused traffic heading toward San Francisco to back up for miles, CHP officials said.
Around 9:10 a.m., the two left westbound lanes had reopened but the other lanes remained blocked. By about 1:10 p.m., all lanes had reopened. Caltrans has sent engineers to the scene to assess any damage to bridge, Andrews said.
SFBART shared an aerial image of the vehicle fire.

Take BART as an alternative, our tube can carry more folks under this bridge anyways. We now have trains every 15 minutes (even more frequent for many sections).
Plenty of parking. You can pay with cash or the official BART app.
